BOX MAKERS YARD SOCIAL CAMPAIGN

Make Your Mark

Back To Front Co-Director, Emma Windsor, worked in collaboration with Legal & General, Identity London and Roos Mattaar to create a series of stop motion shorts to advertise furnished apartments and other on-site facilities in a brand new building complex in Bristol, UK. As the apartments were pet-friendly, the animals did the talking!

THE BRIEF

New building complex, Box Makers Yard in Bristol is one of Legal & General's UK city centre housing development projects that provides high end apartments for young professionals to rent or purchase. L&G wanted to highlight Bristol's reputation as a city of the arts, in addition to the designer interiors, on-site facilities and sense of community at Box Makers Yard. Stop motion animation provided the perfect medium to convey this sense of bohemian locale, artisan decor and friendly neighbourhood, whilst communicating the complex's many benefits.

OUR PROCESS

Our charming characters were designed to appeal to the target demographic and bring a gentle humour and sense of authenticity to their stories about life at Box Makers Yard. As the characters were voiced by real people, their individual characteristics and mannerisms were used as inspiration for both their character's design and animation performance, adding genuine personality to the production. Needle felted finishes for all the puppets emphasised this warm and fuzzy feel. To give the best impression of the actual interiors at Box Makers Yard, set interiors were accurately handcrafted to scale - right down to the plants, fixtures and fittings.

"These films were realised by a remarkable Bristol-based creative team."

THE RESULTS

The indivudal sequences were released as a social media campaign to build brand awareness and communicate the community vibe at Box Makers Yard. These were accompanied with behind-the-scenes mini documentaries that featured the filmmakers at work. Photography from the production was used in print media and featured alongside final shorts and behind-the-scenes content on the Box Makers Yard website. Puppets and set pieces will be exhibited at Box Makers Yard so residents and visitors can meet the stars, up-close and in person.
